Shopping Malls in Kuala Lumpur: 16 Malls and What Each Is Best For

Atrium of Suria KLCC with shops on several levels, one of the best-known shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur

Shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur are more than places to buy things: they are where locals go to escape the heat and the afternoon rain, eat, watch films and meet friends. The biggest cluster is in Bukit Bintang, where Pavilion KL, Lot 10, Sungei Wang Plaza, Plaza Low Yat and Berjaya Times Square sit within a 10-minute walk of each other, with Suria KLCC and The Exchange TRX a short train ride or covered walk away.

This guide covers 16 shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding Klang Valley, grouped by area, from luxury centres to budget arcades, an electronics mall and an outlet mall near the airport. Each entry says what the mall is best for, its anchor stores, food options and attractions, opening hours and the nearest train station. All were checked in October 2026; store line-ups change often, so check the mall directory before going for a particular shop.

Tips for Visiting Shopping Malls in Kuala Lumpur

Opening hours and crowds

Almost every mall opens from 10 am to 10 pm, seven days a week, including most public holidays. Weekday mornings are the quietest. Weekend afternoons and evenings, school holidays and the weeks before Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Christmas are the busiest, when car parks fill up and queues for taxis and Grab rides get long.

Tax and tourist discounts

There is no tax refund for tourists in Malaysia: the Tourist Refund Scheme ended with the Goods and Services Tax in 2018, and the Sales and Service Tax (SST) included in shop prices is not refundable. Instead, several malls run tourist privilege programmes. At Pavilion KL you can get a free Tourist Privilege Card at the Level 2 or Level 3 concierge by showing your passport, and Suria KLCC, The Gardens Mall and Sunway Pyramid list tourist privileges on their websites. Ask at the concierge desk, and carry your passport or a photo of it.

Getting there and parking

The train is usually faster than driving at peak times. The Bukit Bintang malls are served by the MRT Kajang line and the monorail, and a covered elevated walkway connects Pavilion KL with Suria KLCC. Every mall has a Grab pick-up point, usually signposted at one main entrance. If you drive, parking is charged by the hour and paid by ticket, Touch 'n Go card or licence-plate recognition, depending on the mall.

Practical tips

Malls are heavily air-conditioned, so a light layer helps if you plan to spend several hours inside. Cards and DuitNow QR are accepted almost everywhere, but small food-court stalls may prefer cash or QR. Most malls have a prayer room (surau), free Wi-Fi, a concierge desk, baby rooms and wheelchair or stroller loans. Food courts are the cheapest place to eat; look for halal certificates at individual stalls if you need them, as not every outlet is halal.

Shopping Malls in Kuala Lumpur: Frequently Asked Questions
