Selangor Hotels: 16 Places to Stay Outside Kuala Lumpur

Selangor hotels in Bandar Sunway: the Sunway Resort Hotel pool deck in front of the Sunway Lagoon wave pool and theme park

This Selangor hotels guide covers 16 places to stay in the state around Kuala Lumpur, from capsules and a budget hotel at klia2 to the theme-park hotels of Sunway City and the five-star Sama-Sama Hotel at KLIA. Every entry is outside the KL Federal Territory and names its town: Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Shah Alam, Puchong, Seri Kembangan or Sepang. For hotels in the city itself, see the Kuala Lumpur hotels guide.

Each price band is a rough guide to a standard room for two per night in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). Only Sunway Resort Hotel and CapsuleTransit publish a starting rate on their own sites; the other bands are our estimate for the hotel's class, so always check the live rate. Rates rise at weekends, in school holidays and when big events are on. Foreign guests pay Malaysia's Tourism Tax of RM10 per room per night, and Hilton's Selangor pages note a state sustainability fee of RM7 per room per night for tourists from 1 January 2026. Selangor has few budget hotels from brands we could check, so the cheaper picks here are at the airport.
