About Moongate Trail to Station 5

The Moongate is a round arch next to the Botanic Gardens where one of Penang's most-used hill trails begins. The concrete and earth path climbs through forest to Station 5, a rest stop, in about 25 to 45 minutes each way. It is a moderate workout, and on weekend mornings it is busy with regular walkers.

From Station 5 fitter hikers carry on towards Rainbow Rock, a viewpoint reached with the help of ropes, or link up with longer routes to the top of Penang Hill. A full round trip from the Botanic Gardens is about 6 km and takes two to three hours. Park at the Botanic Gardens or walk in from City Park, about 600 metres away.
