About Penang City Park (Youth Park)
City Park, still called Youth Park by most locals, is a large council park at the foot of Penang Hill, about 20 minutes from George Town. Shaded jogging paths loop through tall trees, and the park has two small public swimming pools, a children's playground, a skate park, badminton and basketball courts, an archery range and adult exercise equipment.
Entry is free and the park is open around the clock, though early morning and late afternoon are when it is busiest. Several footpaths lead from here towards the Moongate trail and Penang Hill. A small cash-only cafe sells snacks. Monkeys raid bags left unattended, so keep food zipped away. Get a Grab to the main car park, as the nearest bus stops are a 20-minute walk.
