About Penang Hill Jeep Track
The Jeep Track is the service road from the Botanic Gardens to the top of Penang Hill, and the easiest way to walk up. It is tarmac the whole way, so there is no scrambling, but the first kilometre is very steep before the gradient eases. It is a long walk to the summit, with rest stops along the way.
Many walkers go only part of the way and turn back, which makes a good morning workout. Watch for the occasional hill vehicle and for macaques. At the top you can take the funicular down to Air Itam and a Grab back. As with the other hill routes, set off early and bring water.
