About Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin (Iron Mosque)

Known locally as Masjid Besi (the Iron Mosque), this mosque opened in 2009 and is built largely from steel. The prayer hall is wrapped in a fine stainless-steel mesh screen inspired by mashrabiya lattice, and the open, light-filled interior is very different from the domed mosques elsewhere in the capital.

Visiting hours match those at Putra Mosque, and modest clothing covering arms and legs is expected. It sits across the road from the Palace of Justice in Precinct 3, about 10 minutes by car from Putra Mosque, so most visitors see both on one trip.
