About Gulainya
Gulainya is a Peranakan restaurant in Plaza Damansara, opened in 2024 by the team behind Little Yum Yum in Kota Damansara, and it entered the MICHELIN Guide as a new Bib Gourmand for 2026. The cooking is based on the owner's family recipes: gulai tumis red snapper, ayam pongteh, paku masak lemak and a signature creamy basil boneless chicken.
Dishes come in small and large sizes, with small plates from about RM22 to RM48. The menu is pork-free (chicken, mutton, seafood and venison) but the restaurant is not listed as halal-certified. There is outdoor seating in the evening. It is a good alternative to the Chinatown Nyonya restaurants if you are staying near Bangsar or Damansara.
