About Kin Kin Chilli Pan Mee
Restoran Kin Kin is the shop most often credited with creating chilli pan mee, a dry take on the Hakka flour noodle that Tan Kok Hong came up with in the 1980s. A bowl costs around RM12 and arrives with springy hand-made noodles, minced pork, crispy ikan bilis, fried shallots and a soft-poached egg that you stir through before eating.
The heat comes from the jar of dried chilli flakes on every table, so you control how spicy the bowl gets. Soup pan mee, dumplings and fishballs are also on the menu. The shop sits on a row of old shophouses near the Chow Kit and Medan Tuanku monorail stations, about a 10-minute walk from Yut Kee, so the two make an easy Chow Kit breakfast pairing.
