Selangor Souvenirs: 6 Places to Buy Pewter, Crafts and Textiles
Selangor souvenirs are spread out: there is no single craft street like Central Market in KL. The state's two best-known gifts are Royal Selangor pewter, sold in the company's mall stores, and the hand-carved masks and figures of the Mah Meri people of Pulau Carey. Klang adds textiles and Indian goods, and the airport shops catch anything you forgot.
This guide covers 6 places to buy Selangor souvenirs, checked in October 2026, with the town for each, opening hours where we could confirm them and what to buy. The Royal Selangor Visitor Centre and factory is in Setapak, which is inside Kuala Lumpur, so it is on our Kuala Lumpur souvenirs guide rather than here. For food gifts such as Sekinchan rice and bak kut teh herbs, see the Selangor local products guide.

Royal Selangor 1 Utama
Royal Selangor was founded in 1885 and makes pewter tableware and gifts: tankards, tea sets, photo frames, desk accessories and wine accessories, among more than a thousand designs. Its store in 1 Utama is on the ground floor, unit G101, and is listed as open daily from 10 am to 10 pm. Phone: +60 3-7498 0273.
The company also has a store at Sunway Pyramid (Lot G-1.39, open daily 10 am to 10 pm, phone +60 3-7492 7668). Pewter is heavy for its size, so ask for the gift box and pack it in checked luggage. We have not quoted prices because they vary widely by item; ask staff for the smaller keepsake pieces if you want something light.
Mah Meri Cultural Village
The Mah Meri are one of 18 Orang Asli (indigenous) communities in Peninsular Malaysia and are known as skilled mask makers and wood carvers. The Mah Meri Cultural Village at Kampung Sungai Bumbun on Pulau Carey has a small gallery and a traditional house, and Tourism Selangor lists it as open every day.
According to Tourism Selangor, genuine crafts bought at the village carry a UNESCO Seal of Excellence and come with a certificate of authenticity. They are carved from a reddish swamp hardwood called nyireh batu, and each piece relates to an ancestral legend. Pulau Carey is roughly an hour by car from KL; contact the village (+60 10-252 2800) before a long trip.
Klang Little India
Klang's Little India along Jalan Tengku Kelana is described by Wikivoyage as the biggest Indian street in Malaysia. The shops sell saris, bangles, necklaces and other accessories, textiles, stainless steel pots, Indian sweets, gold and flower garlands.
The street is busiest in the weeks before Deepavali, when shop owners put up decorations and extra stalls fill the pavements. Go in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat, and compare prices between shops before buying gold or fabric.
Chennai Silk Palace Klang
Chennai Silk Palace is an Indian textile and silk store in the former Chartered Bank building on Jalan Istana, which Tourism Selangor describes as the first bank building in Klang, built in 1874 in British colonial style.
It suits visitors looking for saris, silk lengths or festive Indian clothing, and the building itself is worth a look on a Klang heritage walk. We could not confirm opening hours from a recent source, so check before going.
GM Klang Wholesale City
GM Klang Wholesale City in Bandar Botanik, south of Klang town, is certified by the Malaysian Book of Records as the biggest wholesale business complex in Malaysia, with more than 2,000 wholesale shops. They sell fashion, home decor, wedding accessories, carpets, toys and packed food.
It is the place to buy small gifts in bulk, such as party favours or packed snacks for a group, rather than one-off handmade souvenirs. Many shops are wholesale-first, so ask whether they sell single items before choosing.
Royal Selangor KLIA Terminal 1
Royal Selangor has a store airside in the Satellite Building of KLIA Terminal 1, on the passenger level of the east arm, according to the company's store locator. It is reached only after passport control, by passengers departing from the satellite gates. Phone: +60 3-8703 3043.
It is a convenient last stop for a pewter gift, but the range is smaller than at the mall stores and you cannot reach it if you fly from klia2. Liquids and gels bought before security are restricted, so buy food gifts in duty-free after screening if you need them.
How to Plan Your Selangor Souvenir Shopping
Group your shopping by area
Royal Selangor stores are in the big Petaling Jaya and Subang malls, so pair them with a mall visit. Klang Little India, Chennai Silk Palace and GM Klang Wholesale City are all in Klang and fit one half day with bak kut teh. The Mah Meri Cultural Village is on Pulau Carey on the coast south-west of Klang, so plan it as its own trip or combine it with Morib beach.
Buying crafts responsibly
Buy Mah Meri carvings directly in the village where you can, and ask for the certificate of authenticity. Ask before photographing people, and expect prices to reflect the hours of hand carving.
Packing
Pewter and carvings are heavy and can dent or crack, so ask for a gift box and pack them in checked luggage, wrapped in clothes. Keep receipts for higher-value items in case customs at home ask.
付款方式
Mall stores take cards and DuitNow QR. Smaller shops in Klang and the village may prefer cash, so carry some ringgit.
