Ipoh Cafes: 7 Coffee and Brunch Spots with Hours and Prices
Ipoh cafes cluster in the restored shophouses of the Old Town and Taman Jubilee, a short walk from the white coffee kopitiams that made the city famous. The newer places roast their own beans, bake their own cake and keep shorter hours than a kopitiam, so it pays to check the day before you go.
This guide covers 7 Ipoh cafes with addresses, hours and prices where published, checked against a June 2026 round-up, and each confirmed as trading through its Grab Food listing in October 2026. Prices are in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). A small city does not have 25 cafes worth a detour, so this list stays short. Old-style white coffee shops are in our Ipoh drinks guide, and cakes, pâtisserie and cendol are in the Ipoh desserts guide.
None of these cafes publishes a halal certificate that we could find. Aud's Cafe labels itself non-halal on Grab Food; the others are marked "Halal status not confirmed", so Muslim visitors should ask staff or look for a certificate at the door.

Specialty Coffee and Micro-Roasters in Ipoh
Three cafes roast their own beans and serve single-origin coffee, which is rare in a city where most coffee is dark-roasted with margarine.
Cold Blue Specialty Coffee
Cold Blue is a micro-roastery on the second floor of an Old Town shophouse, reached by a staircase from Jalan Tun Sambanthan. It roasts single-origin beans from origins such as Colombia, Nicaragua and Ethiopia, and describes the room as airy and cosy.
It opens at 8 am on weekdays, earlier than most Ipoh cafes, so it works for a coffee before walking to Concubine Lane. The cafe sells beans to take home and has run barista classes. Phone 011-5971 6583.
Jln Theatre Coffee
Jln Theatre Coffee is a micro-roastery with a Nordic-style interior, roasting single-origin beans in house. The signature drinks are a Dirty Coffee, espresso poured over cold milk, and a matcha latte. A brunch menu with pasta dishes has been listed in earlier guides.
It is in Taman Jubilee, a few minutes from Lou Wong and the Gerbang Malam night market, and is open every day from 10 am to 6 pm. Phone 016-755 0235.
Omni Coffee Roasters
Omni is a micro-roastery in Bandar Cyber, south-east of the centre, with pour-over and espresso as the main drinks and a short menu of sourdough and cakes. The room is minimalist and the roasting is done in house.
It is a car or Grab ride from the Old Town, so it suits a visitor with a vehicle or one staying in the southern suburbs. It is closed on Tuesdays. Phone 017-903 1327.
Brunch and Cake Cafes in Ipoh
These five cafes are better for a sit-down meal, cake or an afternoon out of the heat.
Plan B
Plan B is in the restored industrial-heritage space of Kong Heng Square, a minute from Concubine Lane. The menu is Western and fusion comfort food, including a Korean fried chicken burger and peanut butter French toast, with desserts and a long drink list that includes a gula melaka latte.
It is open until 10 pm every day, which makes it one of the few Old Town cafes that works for dinner. Phone 05-249 8286.
Aud's Cafe
Aud's Cafe sits in a heritage shophouse on Jalan Sultan Yusuff with soft music and a small brunch menu. Its signature drink is an avocado smoothie, and cakes are the other draw.
Opening days are irregular: a June 2026 round-up lists Wednesday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, weekend mornings and a Monday closure, so confirm before you walk over. Phone 05-246 1310.
Girlie's Cafe
Girlie's Cafe is known for Basque burnt cheesecake and a watermelon cake. The menu also has sourdough, croissants, quiche and Eggs Benedict, in a white-and-wood room.
It is on Jalan Market in the Old Town, close to the kopitiams on Jalan Bandar Timah, and closes early at 5 pm on Tuesday to Thursday. Phone 016-550 4451.
k'ommons
k'ommons is a minimalist coffeehouse in the ground-floor foyer of Travelodge Ipoh, with single-origin brews, seasonal blends and a cake counter of croffles and tarts. Specialty drinks cost about RM18, and the ondeh latte, inspired by the coconut-and-palm-sugar dessert, is its best-known flavour.
It has the longest hours of the specialty cafes here, opening at 8 am and closing at midnight on Friday and Saturday. Phone 011-2092 1192.
