Ipoh Desserts: Cendol and Cake Shops with Hours and Prices

A bowl of cendol with green rice-flour jelly in coconut milk, photographed in Penang; cendol is among the Ipoh desserts in this guide

Ipoh desserts fall into two groups: cold, sweet bowls of cendol and ice kacang that are eaten on hot afternoons, and a newer set of pâtisserie and cake cafes. The best-known cluster of tong sui (sweet soup) stalls, Tong Sui Kai, is covered in our hawker food guide, as is the soya pudding at Woong Kee Beancurd.

This guide covers 2 Ipoh dessert shops that we could confirm as trading in October 2026, through their live Grab Food listings, with addresses, hours and prices where published. Prices are in Malaysian Ringgit (RM). Other cendol stalls and cake shops named in earlier lists are left out until we can confirm they are still open. Cendol sellers keep short hours, often finishing by 4 pm or 6 pm, so go early in the afternoon.

Egg tarts and other Ipoh pastries are not in this list because we could not confirm current opening hours for them. Coffee-led cafes are in the Ipoh cafes guide.

Tips for desserts in Ipoh

Cendol closes early

Most cendol stalls open late morning and finish by 4 pm to 6:30 pm, and many close one day a week. Go between 1 pm and 4 pm, and check the day before if you are making a special trip.

Durian toppings

Some cendol sellers add durian for a higher price. One Ipoh seller has been reported charging up to RM20 for a durian bowl, against about RM7 for plain cendol, so ask the price first.

Halal and ingredients

Cendol uses coconut milk and palm sugar, with no pork or alcohol, but a stall is only certified if it shows a halal certificate. We found no certificates for the shops here, so ask at the counter.
