Night Markets in Selangor: 4 Pasar Malam by Day of the Week
Night markets in Selangor, called pasar malam in Malay, set up on a fixed day of the week in a different neighbourhood, usually from late afternoon until about 10 pm. Selangor has far more of them than we can list; most of the Klang Valley suburbs outside Kuala Lumpur have one.
This guide covers 4 night markets in Selangor, three in Petaling Jaya and one in Setia Alam, Shah Alam. We listed only markets where we could confirm stalls are trading in October 2026, through their live Grab listings; we left out other weekly markets we could not confirm this month. Markets inside Kuala Lumpur are on the Kuala Lumpur night markets guide. A day-by-day table follows the list.

Petaling Jaya night markets
SS2 Monday Night Market
SS2 Monday is one of the best-known food markets in the Klang Valley. The stalls form a U-shape through the SS2 commercial blocks and are mostly Malaysian Chinese: char kuey teow, oyster omelette, Penang Hokkien prawn mee, fried radish cake, dumplings, steamed buns, loh bak and chee cheong fun. Stalls trading at the market, such as a Penang asam laksa stall, have live Grab listings in October 2026; one lists Monday hours of 4:15 pm to 11 pm.
Halal options are limited. Parking is difficult, so take a Grab and come after 7 pm when every stall is trading, or earlier for shorter queues. It is the main market on a Monday in Petaling Jaya.
SS2 Chow Yang Thursday Night Market
SS2 has a second weekly market on Thursday at Chow Yang on Jalan SS 2/10, on the other side of SS2 from the Monday market. A big-bun (dai bao) stall that trades there has a live Grab listing for Chow Yang Pasar Malam with Thursday hours of 4 pm to 9:30 pm. We found no full stall list, so treat it as a smaller local market.
If you are in SS2 on a Thursday evening it is worth a look; if you are planning a trip around a market, the Monday market is the better documented choice.
Taman Megah Sunday Night Market
Taman Megahโs Sunday market is a smaller Chinese neighbourhood pasar malam near SS2. It is known for Hokkien and Cantonese rice dumplings (bak chang), lok lok skewers, char kuey teow, carrot cake, paper-thin pancakes and Thai dishes cooked to order, alongside fresh produce, clothing and phone accessories.
Most food stalls serve pork. The same big-bun stall lists Pasar Malam Taman Megah on Grab with Sunday hours of 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm, so go early rather than late. The busiest time is around 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Regulars park at Megah Rise Mall, using the side entrance rather than the front.
Shah Alam night market
Setia Alam Saturday Night Market
Setia Alamโs Saturday market is often called the longest night market in Malaysia, stretching about 2.4 km along Jalan Setia Prima with hundreds of stalls. Chinese, Malay and Indian traders sell street food from across Asia, including stinky tofu, assam laksa, pan mee, takoyaki, tamagoyaki, nasi lemak with fried chicken and fruit rojak, plus clothing and household goods.
It is the easiest big market for Muslim visitors, because the halal and non-halal stalls are grouped in separate sections, with non-halal at the front and halal at the back. Stalls with live Grab listings at Setia Alam Pasar Malam list Saturday hours such as 6 pm to 10 pm. Setia Alam is about 35 km west of central KL with no rail link, so drive or take a Grab (allow 45 minutes or more on a Saturday). There is parking about five minutesโ walk from the stalls.

Tips for visiting a pasar malam in Selangor
When to go
Most weekly markets start between 4 pm and 5 pm and wind down around 10 pm. Arrive around 6 pm to see the full line-up, and at 5 pm for shorter queues. Schedules shift around public holidays, and in Ramadan many areas hold a daily Ramadan bazaar.
Paying and prices
Carry cash in RM1, RM5 and RM10 notes. Some traders show a DuitNow QR code, but foreign cards are rarely accepted. Food prices are fixed; only clothes and goods are bargained for.
Halal food
Most Klang Valley markets mix Malay, Chinese and Indian vendors. SS2 and Taman Megah lean non-halal, while Setia Alam keeps halal stalls in a separate section at the back. Look for a halal notice, or ask the trader.
Getting there
Parking near the busier markets is difficult and roads close during trading, so use Grab and arrange pickup a street away. Setia Alam has no rail link; SS2 and Taman Megah are in Petaling Jaya, about 20 minutes by Grab from central KL. For daytime food, see our Selangor hawker food guide.
Night Markets in Selangor: Frequently Asked Questions
Which night market in Selangor is best for visitors?
Setia Alam on Saturday is the largest, stretching about 2.4 km along Jalan Setia Prima, and has separate halal and non-halal sections. SS2 in Petaling Jaya on Monday is the best-known food market and is mostly non-halal.
Is there a night market in Petaling Jaya every day?
Most days have one somewhere in Petaling Jaya, but we list only the ones we could confirm this month: SS2 on Monday, SS2 Chow Yang on Thursday and Taman Megah on Sunday. On Saturday, Setia Alam in Shah Alam is the big one.
What time do Selangor night markets open?
Most open in the late afternoon, around 4 pm to 5 pm, and run until about 10 pm. Stall listings give roughly 4:15 pm to 11 pm at SS2 on Monday, 4 pm to 9:30 pm at Chow Yang on Thursday, 3:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Taman Megah on Sunday and 6 pm to 10 pm at Setia Alam on Saturday. Each stall sets its own hours, so check on the day.
Is the food at Selangor night markets halal?
It depends on the market. SS2 and Taman Megah are mostly non-halal, with many pork stalls. Setia Alam separates halal stalls at the back from non-halal stalls at the front. Elsewhere, halal status is stall by stall, so look for a halal sign or ask.
Are Selangor night market schedules reliable?
Mostly, but no single official source publishes them. We listed only markets where stalls have live listings this month; days are stable, but hours vary by stall. Check the day before, and expect Ramadan bazaars to replace or add to normal markets in the fasting month.
