About Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall
Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall opened on 25 September 2006 on the site of Padang Pahlawan, the field where Tunku Abdul Rahman announced the date of Malaya's independence in 1956. Developer Hatten Group describes about 800,000 sq ft of space with 1,045 shop lots, including a level built underground beneath the preserved field.
Its south entrance leads towards the old fort wall and A Famosa, so it is the closest mall to the main heritage sights. Expect fashion, electronics, restaurants and a food court. A listing gives 10 am to 10 pm daily, but we could not confirm this on the mall's own site, so check before you go.
