About Masjid Negeri Pulau Pinang (Penang State Mosque)

Penang's state mosque was built in the 1970s to a design by Filipino architect Efren Brindez Paz. Its golden dome is shaped like an opening hibiscus, Malaysia's national flower, and the modernist prayer hall holds around 5,000 worshippers.

Non-Muslim visitors are welcome outside prayer times when dressed modestly; ask at the office for a robe if needed. It is on the main road to Air Itam, so it can be combined with Kek Lok Si.
