About Klebang Beach

Klebang Beach is a wide, flat stretch of sand on land reclaimed from the sea since the late 1990s. The reclamation has hurt the coastal environment and local fishermen, and the shoreline here is still changing, so treat it as a place to walk, fly a kite and watch the sunset rather than to swim. The state National Day celebration was held at Klebang in August 2026 and drew more than 150,000 visitors over three days.

Most people stop for a chilled coconut shake at Klebang Original Coconut Shake on the coast road and then walk down to the sand. The small island offshore is Pulau Upeh, once a hawksbill turtle nesting site, where erosion from the reclamation has reduced turtle landings.
