About Cheng Ho Cultural Museum

The museum is about Admiral Zheng He (Cheng Ho), the Ming dynasty admiral whose fleets stopped in Melaka several times between 1405 and 1433. Displays cover his treasure ships, navigation, trade and the cultural links between China and Southeast Asia.

It was founded by Dr Tan Ta Sen and opened in 2005, the 600th anniversary of the first voyage, in an old building in Chinatown. In 2024 it became the first museum in Malaysia to join the International Congress of Maritime Museums.
