About FRIM Forest Park and Forest Skywalk

The Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) in Kepong, about 16 km north-west of the city centre, is a research campus set in a large forest that was replanted from the 1920s. It was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2025. Visitors can walk the campus roads and the Kepong Botanic Gardens section, and climb the Forest Skywalk, a walkway and tower above the canopy with views of the forest and the KL skyline.

Campus entry is RM5 for non-Malaysian adults, RM1 for Malaysian adults and RM5 per car. The Forest Skywalk opens from Saturday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (closed on Fridays and in bad weather), and tickets are booked online at skywalk.frim.gov.my (+603 6279 7649). Since the UNESCO listing, the forest core area can only be entered on pre-booked guided tours, capped at 400 visitors a day; contact the FRIM Visitor Information Centre (+603 6279 7000) before you go. Drive or take a Grab; there is no rail station at the gate.
