Shopping Malls in Melaka: 7 Malls and What Each Is Best For
Shopping malls in Melaka (often spelt Malacca in English) are split between Bandar Hilir, a short walk south of the UNESCO-listed old town, and the suburbs of Peringgit and Ayer Keroh along Jalan Tun Abdul Razak. The two malls nearest Dutch Square, Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlawan, sit next to each other in Bandar Hilir and are easy to add to a day of sightseeing.
This guide covers 7 shopping malls in Melaka, checked in October 2026 against the operators' own pages and the Tourism Melaka portal. We list hours only where a source gave them; most malls in Malaysia trade from about 10 am to 10 pm, but check before a special trip. Hatten Square and Elements Mall in Bandar Hilir are left out because we could not confirm their current shop line-ups.

Mahkota Parade
Mahkota Parade opened on 30 January 1994 and was relaunched in 2010 after a refurbishment. It is owned by Hektar REIT, which describes it as the first regional shopping centre in the heart of historic Melaka. The Parkson department store is the anchor, and the REIT reported a tenant occupancy rate of 98,1 per cent for its 2024 financial year, with about 6,8 million visits a year.
It is about 600 m south of Dutch Square, so it is the easiest mall to reach on foot from the old town. The centre also hosts many of the city's community events, tourist events and exhibitions. Tourism Melaka lists the phone number as 06-282 6151.
Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall
Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall opened on 25 September 2006 on the site of Padang Pahlawan, the field where Tunku Abdul Rahman announced the date of Malaya's independence in 1956. Developer Hatten Group describes about 800.000 sq ft of space with 1.045 shop lots, including a level built underground beneath the preserved field.
Its south entrance leads towards the old fort wall and A Famosa, so it is the closest mall to the main heritage sights. Expect fashion, electronics, restaurants and a food court. A listing gives 10 am to 10 pm daily, but we could not confirm this on the mall's own site, so check before you go.
AEON Mall Bandaraya Melaka
AEON Mall Bandaraya Melaka is a large modern mall in Peringgit, about 3 km north of the old town and close to the Melaka Sentral bus terminal. AEON's own location list (updated June 2025) includes the mall itself, an AEON store, an AEON Wellness pharmacy and a Daiso here.
It suits a rainy afternoon or a big shop for groceries, clothes and household goods in one place. Tourism Melaka lists the phone number as 06-281 6398. Go by Grab or bus from the old town.
AEON Melaka Shopping Centre
AEON Melaka Shopping Centre is the older AEON mall in Ayer Keroh, on Jalan Tun Abdul Razak towards the highway. Tourism Melaka still lists it under its former name, Jusco Shopping Centre, and AEON includes it in its current list of Melaka locations.
It is about 7 km north-east of the old town, so it is most useful if you are staying in Ayer Keroh or heading to the zoo or Malaysia Heritage Studios. Tourism Melaka gives the phone number as 06-232 4899.
The Shore Shopping Gallery
The Shore Shopping Gallery is at the base of The Shore, a riverside tower development on the Melaka River near Kampung Morten. Its operator markets it as The Shore at Melaka River and sells combination tickets for the attractions in the building, which include a sky tower viewing deck.
It is smaller than the malls in Bandar Hilir and Peringgit, and best combined with a walk along the river path or a visit to Kampung Morten. Tourism Melaka lists the phone number as 06-282 2666. We could not confirm current mall hours, so check before you go.
Mydin Mall MITC
Mydin Mall MITC is built around the Mydin Melaka Hypermarket, next to the Melaka International Trade Centre in Ayer Keroh. Mydin's store list (October 2026) gives the hypermarket's hours as 8:30 am to 10 pm.
Mydin is a Malaysian chain known for low prices, so this is the place to stock up on snacks, toiletries, clothes and household goods for less. It is about 11 km north-east of the old town and needs a car or Grab.
Freeport A'Famosa Outlet
Freeport A'Famosa Outlet is an open-air outlet village near the A'Famosa Resort in Alor Gajah, about 30 km north of Melaka City, or roughly 30 to 40 minutes by car. Tourism Melaka lists brands such as Nike, Puma, Cotton On, Esprit, G2000, Carlo Rino, Clarks and Samsonite, and opening hours of 10 am to 10 pm daily.
The outlet's own site was promoting a Glow-O-Ween family event on 31 October 2026, from RM25. Brand line-ups change, so check the mall directory before going for a particular shop. Phone: +60 19-600 1355.
Tips for Shopping Malls in Melaka
Cara ke sana
Mahkota Parade and Dataran Pahlawan are walkable from Dutch Square and Jonker Street. The AEON malls, Mydin Mall MITC and Freeport A'Famosa Outlet need Grab, a bus or a car. Weekend traffic on Jalan Tun Abdul Razak and in Bandar Hilir can be slow, especially on public holidays.
Kapan sebaiknya datang
Malls are a good break in the middle of a hot or wet afternoon. They are busiest on Saturdays, Sundays and school holidays, when many visitors drive in from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
Yang bisa dibeli
Malls are best for clothes, electronics and everyday goods. For Melaka gifts such as gula Melaka, dodol and Nyonya-style crafts, the old town shops are better; see the Melaka souvenirs and local products guides linked below.
