Ipoh Hotels: 14 Places to Stay, Heritage to Resort

Ipoh hotels in Old Town: the Kong Heng shophouses, home to Sekeping Kong Heng, seen from Jalan Bandar Timah

This Ipoh hotels guide covers 14 places to stay, from simple Old Town rooms at about RM100 a night to the villa resort The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat and the family-friendly Sunway Lost World Hotel in Tambun. Prices are shown as a typical range per night in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) for a room for two.

The rates are the lowest prices Booking.com showed us on 31 October 2026 for two adults on a Wednesday (11 November) and a Saturday (14 November) night, with The Haven also checked against its own website; Sekeping Kong Heng is not on Booking.com, so its range is our estimate. Treat them as a guide and check the live rate before booking. Rates rise at weekends, in school holidays and at Chinese New Year. Malaysia charges foreign guests a Tourism Tax of RM10 per room per night, collected at check-in, and standard check-in is about 3 pm with check-out at 12 noon. Ipoh has few international luxury brands, so the choice is mainly between a heritage or boutique stay in Old Town, a mid-range city hotel and a resort in Tambun.

The Banjaran Hotsprings Retreat

The Banjaran is a villa resort on a 22.7-acre site in Tambun, about 15 minutes by car north-east of the city centre. It has 44 private villas in five categories (Lake, Water, Garden, Grand Garden and Royal), and every villa has its own plunge pool fed by the natural geothermal springs. Booking.com showed the Lake Villa with breakfast at RM2,020 to RM2,080 a night in mid-November 2026; the Grand Garden and Royal villas cost more.

Jeff's Cellar, the fine-dining restaurant, sits inside a limestone cave said to be 260 million years old, and there is an all-day restaurant, Pomelo, plus two bars. The resort accepts adults and guests aged 12 and above only, so it is not a family option. The Lost World of Tambun theme park is a few minutes away.

Sunway Lost World Hotel

2 Persiaran Lagun Sunway 1, Sunway City Ipoh, Tambun, Ipoh · RM340–430/night · Family resort hotel · ★★★Check-in 3 pm, check-out 12 noon · Google Maps · Verified Oct 2026

Sunway Lost World Hotel is the family base for the Tambun leisure area, about a 3-minute walk (roughly 300 m) from the Lost World of Tambun water and theme park. Room types listed on booking sites include twin and double rooms, family rooms, suites, villas and tent-style rooms, and the hotel has a water park and garden.

Booking.com guests rate it about 8.1 out of 10, mostly for the walk to the park. In mid-November 2026 Booking.com showed a triple room from RM336 on a Wednesday and RM433 on a Saturday; school-holiday weekends and park-ticket packages cost more. It is around 15 minutes from the city centre, so most guests drive or use Grab.

TUI BLUE The Haven Ipoh

Jalan Haven, Persiaran Lembah Perpaduan, Tambun, Ipoh · About RM500/night · Lakeside resort · ★★★★★Check hours before visiting · Google Maps · Verified Oct 2026

The Haven is an all-suite lakeside resort in Tambun, on the north-eastern edge of Ipoh, with views over the limestone hills. It now trades as TUI BLUE The Haven Ipoh All Suite Resort, and its website describes it as a 5-star hotel with lakeview suites. Booking.com showed a suite at RM497 for a Saturday night in November 2026, and the hotel's own November 2026 package with breakfast and high tea starts from RM500 nett.

It suits couples and families who want space and quiet rather than a walk to the cafes of Old Town, which is a 20-minute drive away. Check the resort's own booking page for the room mix before you book, as some dates were not bookable on Booking.com when we checked.

Weil Hotel

292 Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, New Town, Ipoh · About RM390/night · Upscale city hotel · ★★★★★Check hours before visiting · Google Maps · Verified Oct 2026

Weil Hotel is one of the city's larger upscale hotels, on Jalan Sultan Idris Shah in New Town. Guides list it as linked to the Ipoh Parade shopping mall and note an infinity pool with a view over the city. A hotel-rating site gives it a 5-star class and a guest score of around 4.2 out of 5 from nearly 6,000 reviews.

The location puts the Old Town food streets and Concubine Lane about a 10-minute drive away, and big malls and restaurants close by. Booking.com showed a Deluxe room with breakfast at about RM390 a night for both a Wednesday and a Saturday in November 2026, and guests there score it 8.6 out of 10. Rates rise during festivals.

Sekeping Kong Heng

74 Jalan Bandar Timah, Kong Heng Square, Old Town, Ipoh · RM100–300 (estimate)/night · Heritage boutique · ★★★Check hours before visiting · Google Maps · Verified Oct 2026

Sekeping Kong Heng occupies a three-storey building that began as lodgings for actors working at a neighbouring theatre, which burnt down in the 1950s. It was refurbished into a minimalist, raw-concrete hotel with an old-style coffee shop on the ground floor and a rooftop pool, and has been featured by Lonely Planet and The Guardian as an industrial-chic stay.

It is in the middle of Old Town, within a short walk of Concubine Lane, the Kong Heng Square cafes and the mural lanes. Rooms are small and plain by design, so it suits travellers who want the location over a big room. It is not listed on Booking.com and its own website shows no rates, so the RM100 to RM300 range is our estimate: book through the Sekeping website and check the price before visiting.

M Roof Hotel & Residences

Jalan Dato Lau Pak Kuan, Taman Ipoh, Ipoh · RM180–210/night · Mid-range hotel · ★★★★Check hours before visiting · Google Maps · Verified Oct 2026

41 Lapangan Symphony Business Park, Jalan Lapangan Symphony, Ipoh · RM195–210/night · Business hotel · ★★★Check hours before visiting · Google Maps · Verified Oct 2026

Symphony Suites Hotel is in the Lapangan Symphony Business Park on the southern side of Ipoh, about 20 minutes from the old town centre. Booking.com showed rooms at RM195 to RM207 a night for two in November 2026. Guides recommend it for the access to Sultan Azlan Shah Airport and the highway towards Cameron Highlands.

It is a practical stop for road trips and early starts rather than a base for evening wandering in Old Town, where you will need a car or Grab.

A travel review site gives it a rating of 8.1 out of 10 from more than 14,000 guests, though another rating site scores it lower at about 3.9 out of 5, so expect a functional rather than polished stay.

Booking.com showed rooms at about RM179 a night for two on both a weekday and a Saturday in November 2026. It is a convenient option when you want a central address without paying for a heritage-boutique room.
