Melaka Cafes: 8 Coffee Shops with Hours and Addresses
Melaka cafes are concentrated in the shophouses of Jonker Street (Jalan Hang Jebat) and the lanes around it, in the UNESCO-listed core of the city also spelled Malacca. Most open late morning and close by early evening, and several shut one weekday, so the closing days below matter.
This guide covers 8 Melaka cafes, each confirmed as operating from its own Instagram or Facebook page or the Tourism Melaka cafe listing in October 2026. Prices are in Malaysian Ringgit (RM); none of these cafes publishes a price list online, so check the menu at the counter. Coffee from all 13 states and coconut shakes are in our Melaka drinks guide, and cendol, Nyonya kuih and cake in the Melaka desserts guide.
We found no halal certificate for any cafe on this list. Locahouz serves pork. The rest are marked "Halal status not confirmed", so Muslim visitors should ask staff.

Melaka Cafes on and near Jonker Street
Four coffee-led cafes, three of them within a few minutes' walk of the Jonker Walk arch and one in Tengkera for an early breakfast.
The Daily Fix Cafe
The Daily Fix opened on Jonker Street in 2014 with the idea of serving simple food and good coffee, and it remains one of the best-known cafes in the old town. The company now roasts its own coffee, runs a bakery and sells whole cakes, and its Instagram account was posting new items through October 2026.
It is listed by Tourism Melaka among the old-town cafes. Opening hours are not published on its pages, so check before you walk over. It is a short walk from the Jonker Walk entrance arch.
Backlane Coffee
Backlane Coffee is a coffee bar at the western end of Jonker Street, from the Savor Group. Its menu and dessert highlights centre on espresso drinks with latte art and a small range of cakes.
It opens at 10:30 am and takes last orders at 5 pm, every day except Wednesday. Phone 011-5693 1550.
The Coffee Jar
The Coffee Jar describes itself as a cafe and coffee roastery, and serves coffee, tea and cake in a shophouse on Lorong Hang Jebat, the lane running parallel to the river behind Jonker Street. Its Facebook page was active in October 2026.
Hours are not published on the pages we could read, and earlier listings showed a weekday closing day, so check before you go. It is a quieter alternative to the cafes on the main Jonker Street strip.
Pekan Kopi
Pekan Kopi is a coffee shop on Jalan Tengkera, west of the old town, that sells arabica coffee beans and serves coffee with a menu of food. It was posting on Instagram in December 2025.
It opens at 7 am, earlier than the Jonker Street cafes, and closes at 3 pm, so it suits breakfast before sightseeing. It is closed on Tuesdays. Tengkera is a short Grab ride from Dutch Square.
Cafes for a Meal or a Late Coffee
These four serve fuller menus, sit by the river or stay open into the evening.
Locahouz
Locahouz is a home-style cafe on Jalan Bukit Cina, between the old town and Bukit China. It serves homemade pumpkin bao and bread, local Melaka coffee and tea, flavoured coffees including a monthly floral special, and cheesecake in a jar. Its menu includes pork dishes, so it is not halal.
It is open from 10 am to 6 pm and closed on Wednesdays. It is about 10 to 15 minutes on foot from Jonker Street and close to Bukit China.
Alley No. 5
Alley No. 5 is a small cafe on Jalan Kampung Kuli, close to Jonker Street, that bills itself as a place to sit and chill. It runs events and sells its own merchandise, and its Instagram account was active in September 2026.
It stays open until 10:30 pm, or 11 pm on Friday and Saturday, which makes it one of the few old-town cafes open after the Jonker Walk night market starts.
Dutch Harbour Cafe
Dutch Harbour Cafe sits beside the Melaka River in the heritage core. Tourism Melaka lists it among the city's bistros and cafes, and its Facebook page was active in October 2026.
Hours are not published on the pages we could read. It is a few minutes on foot from Dutch Square, so it suits a drink break between the museums.
Membawang Cafe
Membawang Cafe, open since 2018, serves fusion and Western food, pasta, coffee and desserts on Jalan Bunga Raya in Pengkalan Rama, north of the old town. It was posting on Instagram in October 2026.
It is open every day from 11:30 am to 10 pm, with last orders at 9 pm. Phone 012-920 5886.
