Selangor Nightclubs and Nightlife: 4 Late-Night Picks
Selangor nightclubs are thin on the ground. The state's towns around Kuala Lumpur have plenty of bars, but the large dance clubs are inside KL city, at TREC and Changkat Bukit Bintang, and are on our KL nightclubs guide. We could not find a dedicated nightclub in Selangor with a source we could read showing it is open in 2026, so we have not listed one.
Instead, this Selangor nightlife guide lists 4 late-night picks checked for October 2026: a live music bar in Petaling Jaya, a long-running punk and DIY gig space in Ampang Jaya, and two bar streets where you can move between places until late. For quieter drinks, see the Selangor bars guide.

Merdekarya
Merdekarya is a small bar and live music room in an old Petaling Jaya neighbourhood, known for its open mic nights. Its own website lists solo and band open mics, karaoke nights and gigs by local acts, with a Diner Bar downstairs and a separate Live Bar.
The website gives the hours above, with last food orders at 10:30 pm and last drinks at 12:30 am. Phone or WhatsApp 018-661 4553. It is the closest thing Petaling Jaya has to a late-night music venue, and it is relaxed rather than a dress-up club.
Rumah Api
Rumah Api ("house of fire") is a collective-run, all-ages space for DIY punk and alternative music. Time Out Kuala Lumpur's 2024 guide to live music venues says it moved from a demolished shophouse in Pekan Ampang to a smaller top-floor unit in Pandan Indah, and hosts local and touring bands most weekends.
There are no fixed opening hours: it opens for gigs. Follow its social media for the next show. This is a sweaty, independent gig room, not a nightclub, and the newest information we could read about it is from 2024, so confirm a show is on before you travel.
Damansara Uptown
Damansara Uptown is a grid of shop-office blocks in Petaling Jaya with restaurants on the ground floor and bars on the upper floors. It is one of Petaling Jaya's busiest areas in the evening. Time Out Kuala Lumpur has listed Hyde at 53M, 61 Monarchy on Jalan SS21/1A and The Great Beer Bar on Jalan SS21/62 here, with weekend closing times as late as 2 am.
Those listings are a few years old, so treat the names as a starting point and check each bar before you go. Parking is tight in the evening; e-hailing is easier.
SS15 Subang Jaya
SS15 is a shop-lot commercial area in Subang Jaya with one row, Jalan SS15/4E, that has several pubs and bars close together. Beer Mad at No. 45G is one, open daily from 2 pm to midnight according to its own website (see our Selangor bars guide), and map listings show other pubs on the same row.
It is a casual, local scene rather than a clubbing district. SS15 LRT station is a short walk away, and Bandar Sunway, with its hotel bars, is a few minutes' drive away.
Planning a Late Night in Selangor
If you want a proper dance club, plan on going into Kuala Lumpur: TREC on Jalan Tun Razak is about 25 to 40 minutes by car from Petaling Jaya or Subang Jaya, depending on traffic. Selangor's late nights are mostly bars, live music and open mic nights.
Bring identification, as bars and music venues may check age. Book an e-hailing ride home, since late-night trains do not run after midnight. Nightlife venues serve alcohol and are non-halal; Rumah Api is an all-ages space.
