About Warung Saga
Warung Saga has served Malay food on Jalan Mahmoodiah since 1986. It is known for lontong kering, a dry version of lontong found in Johor: compressed rice cakes in a peanut sambal, topped with stir-fried vegetables, tempeh and a large piece of chicken. Guides say it often sells out by 11 am, so come early.
A September 2026 guide also recommends the nasi ayam panggang (grilled chicken rice, RM14). It does not open on Friday mornings. It is listed as halal-certified and is about 1,5 km west of the old town, near the Mahmoodiah royal mausoleum.
