Ipoh Bars: 4 Places for Beer, Pub Food and Rooftop Drinks

Ipoh bars guide: daytime view over central Ipoh showing city streets, rooftops and the limestone hills behind

Ipoh bars are small, spread across a few streets and quiet by Kuala Lumpur standards. This Ipoh bars guide lists 4 places we could confirm as open in October 2026, through a venue website, a live Grab Food listing or a recent visit report: two Old Town beer spots, a gastropub and a rooftop gastro bar. Cocktail and craft beer bars such as Tiga, Atas Speakeasy, Kiki Lalat and Lumi appear in 2025 lists, but we could not confirm them from a source we could read, so they are left out for now.

Most bars open from late afternoon, close between midnight and 2 am, and are busiest on Friday and Saturday. Prices are not published for most of them, so we say "Check menu" rather than guess. For rooftop views see the Ipoh night view guide, and for later nights see the Ipoh nightclubs guide.

Kafe Yoon Wah

7 Jalan Bijeh Timah, Old Town ยท Daily 2 pm โ€“ 12 am ยท Check menuNon-halal ยท Google Maps ยท Verified Oct 2026

Kafe Yoon Wah is a Chinese restaurant on Jalan Bijeh Timah known for its "snow beer", a frosty slush-style serving of beer that the shop says it has sold since 1998. It is a casual kopitiam-style drinking spot rather than a cocktail bar.

The July 2025 Newswav listing recommends the stuffed chicken wings with the beer, and its Grab Food listing, as Cafe Sun Yoon Wah, was live in October 2026. Phone 012-512 9980. Expect an older, local crowd rather than a nightlife scene.

Euro House

51 Jalan Hussein, Taman Jubilee ยท Mon โ€“ Tue 5 pm โ€“ 12 am; Wed โ€“ Sun 5 pm โ€“ 1 am ยท Check menuNon-halal ยท Google Maps ยท Verified Oct 2026

Euro House is a gastropub in Taman Jubilee with a pool table, console games and a Western-leaning meal menu. It works for a relaxed group night where eating matters as much as drinking.

Hours come from the July 2025 Newswav guide, and its Grab Food listing was live in October 2026; phone 012-553 2032. Call ahead if you want the pool table on a weekend.

Sinhalese Bar

2 Jalan Bijeh Timah, Old Town ยท Hours: check before visiting ยท Check menu (beer and light bites)Non-halal ยท Google Maps ยท Verified Oct 2026

Founded in 1931 by a Ceylonese owner, Sinhalese Bar is described as one of the oldest surviving bars in Ipoh, and it keeps its pink and green paint and pre-war windows. It is a daytime beer-and-chat bar rather than a late-night one.

An October 2025 blog visit says it serves only small finger-food bites, and customers often bring snacks from the nearby Concubine Lane stalls. Phone 05-241 2235. We could not confirm its current hours in October 2026, so call before going.

The Deck Gastrobar

Rooftop, Weil Hotel, Jalan Sultan Idris Shah ยท Mon โ€“ Thu 4 pm โ€“ 12 am; Fri โ€“ Sat 4 pm โ€“ 1 am; closed Sun ยท Check menuNon-halal ยท Google Maps ยท Verified Oct 2026

The Deck is the rooftop gastro bar of Weil Hotel, with an outdoor cabana beside the pool and a skyline outlook. Signature drinks include Polaris, Jack Of All Fruits and a Kopi-O Tonic.

Weil Hotel's own dining page, read in October 2026, gives the hours above and says The Deck also opens on the eves of public holidays. Reservations are on +605 208 3131. Rain can close the open-air section, so call first. It is the most comfortable choice here for a sunset drink.

How to Plan an Ipoh Bar Night

The easiest bar walk is Jalan Bijeh Timah in the Old Town, where Sinhalese Bar and Kafe Yoon Wah are a short walk apart. Start early, because Sinhalese Bar has been a daytime bar. Euro House is in Taman Jubilee, and The Deck is a short ride away at Weil Hotel.

Bar hours change often, and apart from The Deck, the hours here come from a July 2025 guide rather than from the venues. Call before going. Use e-hailing to get home, as late-night taxis are scarce. None of these places is halal certified.
