This guide covers 10 Selangor hospitals, two government and eight private, with addresses, phone numbers and emergency information taken from each hospital or hospital group's own website in October 2026. Government Hospitals in Selangor
Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah
Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR), also called Klang General Hospital, is the main government hospital for Klang and the coastal side of Selangor. It opened in 1985 and is one of the busiest public hospitals in Malaysia. Main line: 03-3375 7000.
Waits in the emergency department can be long for anything that is not life-threatening. Foreign visitors pay non-citizen rates, and travellers with insurance often go to a private hospital in Klang instead, such as KPJ Klang or Columbia Asia Klang.
Hospital Shah Alam
Hospital Shah Alam is the Ministry of Health hospital for Shah Alam, on Persiaran Kayangan in Seksyen 7. The hospital's own website lists its Emergency and Trauma Department as open 24 hours. Phone: 03-5526 3000 or 03-5526 3400.
It is the government hospital closest to central Shah Alam and the Blue Mosque. As at any government hospital, non-citizens pay higher rates than Malaysians.

Sunway Medical Centre
Sunway Medical Centre in Sunway City is the flagship of the Sunway Healthcare group, next to Sunway Pyramid and Sunway Lagoon. The group lists 24/7 emergency care, including a children's emergency service. Emergency: 03-5566 8888. Ambulance: 019-666 6940. General line: 03-7491 9191.
General ward visiting hours are 9 am to 9 pm. The hospital has its own stop on the BRT Sunway Line, which is handy if you are staying in Bandar Sunway without a car.
Subang Jaya Medical Centre
Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) is one of the largest private hospitals in Selangor. Its website says the Emergency Department runs 24/7, led by a consultant emergency physician, with a dedicated 24-hour ambulance service. Emergency: 019-9000 330 or 03-5639 1213. 24-hour careline: 03-5639 1212.
For non-urgent medical questions, the 24-hour medical enquiries line is 03-5639 1818. The hospital is in SS12, a short drive from the SS15 shops and the Subang Jaya KTM and LRT stations.
Damansara Specialist Hospital
Damansara Specialist Hospital is a KPJ Healthcare hospital in Damansara Utama, Petaling Jaya, close to Damansara Uptown. KPJ lists round-the-clock emergency services here. Emergency line: 03-7718 1112. Main line: 03-7718 1000.
It is a convenient choice for visitors staying around Damansara Uptown, Bandar Utama and the 1 Utama area.
Columbia Asia Hospital Petaling Jaya
Columbia Asia Hospital Petaling Jaya is a mid-sized private hospital in Seksyen 13. Its emergency room is open 24 hours with an on-call emergency physician. General line: 03-7949 9999.
Specialist clinics run on weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm and on Saturday mornings. Visiting hours are 9 am to 9:30 pm.

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital
KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital is a 174-bed KPJ hospital in Seksyen 20, Shah Alam. Main line: 03-5543 1111; KPJ lists the emergency line as extension 3031.
The hospital page we read gives an emergency line but does not state its hours, so phone before you go unless it is an emergency, in which case call 999.
KPJ Klang Specialist Hospital
KPJ Klang Specialist Hospital is a private hospital in Bandar Baru Klang, on the north side of the town. KPJ lists accident and trauma care and a separate emergency line: 03-3377 7999. Main line: 03-3377 7888.
The hospital page does not state emergency opening hours, so confirm by phone when it is not urgent.
Columbia Asia Hospital Klang
Columbia Asia Hospital Klang is in Mutiara Bukit Raja, off Jalan Meru on the northern edge of Klang. Columbia Asia lists its accident and emergency room as open 24 hours. General line: 03-3346 7999.
Specialist clinics are open on weekdays from 8 am to 5 pm and on Saturday mornings.
Columbia Asia Hospital Puchong
Columbia Asia Hospital Puchong is in Bandar Puteri Puchong, beside the LDP highway. Columbia Asia lists its accident and emergency room as open 24 hours. General line: 03-8064 8688.
It is the nearest private emergency department for visitors staying in Puchong or around IOI Mall Puchong.
Tips for Using Selangor Hospitals
Calling an ambulance
Dial 999, or 112 from a mobile phone. Sunway Medical Centre and Subang Jaya Medical Centre also run their own ambulance lines (listed above), but 999 is the safest number if you are unsure where you are.
Government or private
Government hospitals charge less but have longer waits, and non-citizens pay higher rates than Malaysians. Private hospitals usually ask for a deposit before admission, so bring your passport and travel insurance details.
Kuala Lumpur or Selangor
