About Whitewater Rafting, Gopeng
Gopeng, a former tin-mining town about 20 km south of Ipoh, is the base for whitewater rafting on the Kampar River. The river has big rapids but is described as beginner friendly, and several adventure operators in and around Gopeng run guided trips.
Guides give a safety talk and supply helmets and life jackets. Nomad Adventure, one of the long-running Gopeng operators, lists its rafting trip on its website at RM159 per person plus 8% SST (about RM172), with a minimum age of 12. Prices and river conditions vary by operator and season, so book directly with a licensed operator and ask about water levels before you go. Gopeng is also the base for Gua Tempurung, so the two combine into one long day.
