Nanyang Volunteers Memorial
The Nanyang Volunteers Memorial, a memorial to commemorate the Nanyang transport volunteers who died while volunteered their service as a truck driver and mechanic during the Sino Japanese War at Burma Road, Yunan, China. More than 3,192 men from Nanyang volunteered, joining tens of thousands of mainland Chinese in plying the 1,453km Yunnan-Burma Road. The route traveled over two mountain ranges, crossing three rivers and countless gorges over more than 400 bridges. 1200 men eventually survived and returned to South-East Asia.
